What Dost This Mean?

Greetings, readers of the AIO web blog. It is I, Sir E. By some miracle, I hast survived my last encounter with Austin's virus defenses, but I am still weak from that incident and cannot communicate with thou with my voice. However, I hast managed to gain access to his computer and observe his plans for this website.

This is a shot of his screen I was able to take. By great misfortune, I didst not procure an acceptable image, but what I didst get is able to be seen below this script. It appears to be a great surprise of some sorts for a forthcoming announcement.

I must be off. If at some point, I am able to return to wreak more havoc on Austin and Tasha, I will certainly do so. Farewell.

Dan Cline, also known as OdysseyFan, is quite possibly one of the biggest fans of Adventures in Odyssey. Why? Well, he is the owner and collector of the most AIO merchandise in the world. His collection includes out of print copies of books, postcards, international versions of the video series, autographs, and much more.

Later this month, OdysseyFan will be hosting a live Google Hangout to show us all a tour of his Odyssey memorabilia museum and showing all the different kinds of items in his collection. If you want to see specific items or want to ask a question, you can send your comments in beforehand or submit it live during the broadcast. It all happens on May 31st from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm Mountain Time. If you can't make it to see the live broadcast, you'll be able to see the whole video of it after the event is over.

You can join the event and get updates on the Facebook and Google Plus event pages.

P.S. You can hear an interview we did with Dan on the 22nd episode of the Blogcast.

The Wildest Summer Ever!

Ahhh...summer is finally here! The time where we get out of school, go on vacations, and have more time to listen to AIO, of course. We've had special events in the summer before, usually to commemorate the anniversary of this site. This year, we want to make the fun to last all summer long!

That is why we are introducing what we like to call The Wildest Summer Ever! Okay, it's not too original. After all there's an Odyssey album with that name. But, we like the name and we think it's a good fit for what we have planned. Starting now and and to the end of August, we're going to be hosting several cool events, including a bunch of new wallpapers, a new contest, more interviews, and much more! Sir E. managed to get  a glimpse of our plans (we've since then updated our virus protection), but there is going to be plenty of surprises. We've also created a special hashtag (#aioWSE)  to use on all our social media sites so you can find out all of our posts on The Wildest Summer Ever and for you to help spread the word.

Get ready, guys. It's going to be a fun ride!

Interview with Tracy Lyn Holland

As we continue the Wildest Summer Ever, we would like to share an interview we recently did with the multi-talented Tracy Lyn Holland. For those of you who don't know who she is, she is the creator and star of her own YouTube channel, Adventures in Editing. Tracy acts out scenes from Adventures in Odyssey playing all the characters herself. She's done nearly 50 videos with scenes from the Novacom Saga, Over the Airwaves, BTV-Temptation, and many more!

Usually we have audio or video interviews, but a text interview worked better this time making this the first time we've done an interview this way. In the interview, Tracy talks about when she first started acting, creating AIE, and about her upcoming radio drama series.

Enjoy!

Austin: When did you first hear Adventures in Odyssey?

Tracy: I honestly can't remember a time when I didn't know Adventures in Odyssey! For as long as I can remember, it was the soundtrack to my childhood, and it's hard to imagine that I, at one time, didn't know Whit, Connie, and Eugene. The best estimate I can guess for when I first heard an episode was between 5 and 8.

Tasha: Who would be your favorite Odyssey character?

Tracy: The first character that came to mind at this question is Judah, from the Back to Bethlehem series. No, he wasn't a regular or recurring character after those three episodes, but he was such an interesting character! I loved how passionate he was and how real he felt. Monica Stone too! But as for a regular character, Wooton has always amused me, and his sincere love for the Lord made his character so much more than just the goofy comic relief. He has so much heart. But that's the same for Connie and Eugene and Jason! Whit, Bernard, Tom... they're all wonderful, and I truly couldn't pick just one.

Austin: When did you know that you wanted to act?

Tracy: I'm afraid I can't put a date on that either. It was sort of a gradual thing that I developed interest in. Since I was young, I would watch any and all Behind the Scenes features on movies or TV shows and I would just soak up everything I saw. I loved learning about camera angles and actor's marks and sets and script writing and every little detail that went into a production, and finally, in early 2009, I bought a video camera for myself and that very night I was filming a favorite scene from the AIO episode Sheep's Clothing. It was terrible, but immediately I was hooked! The next day I edited it together and then I started to see that I could use the split-screen feature and from then on, I taught myself more and more about how I could make my videos look better. At first, all I cared about was getting the lip syncing on, but soon I started to use more wigs, different camera angles, outfits, and sets. The project sort of took on a life of its own and now each production feels like a mini movie. But I wouldn't have it any other way! I've been able to do so much more than 'just' acting and my love for acting has developed because of it.

Tasha: How did you come up with the idea to make your YouTube channel, Adventures in Editing?

Tracy: By the time I created AIE, I'd already made a few Odyssey videos and had uploaded them to my Facebook account. My family and friends seemed to be amused by them and their feedback encouraged me to go a step further and put them online for other Odyssey fans to see. It was such a thrill for me to receive positive feedback from other people who knew those characters so well! Basically I wanted to have the opportunity to interact with other fans and I had hoped that maybe, by publishing the scenes, the people behind AIO might see them. And they did, which still blows me away.

Austin: What is you favorite kind of scene to act out?

Tracy: I have done several scenes that are pretty simple, so I really enjoy ones that challenge me more, either with a difficult set or a lot of dialogue or emotional content. In fact I've found myself searching out scenes that will be more challenging because I think the more I put into it, the more the audience gets out of it. So if I had to choose one favorite, I would definitely choose an emotional scene. Whether it's happiness, anger, sadness, or something quiet just below the surface, I love the challenge of adapting myself to the emotion that the character is feeling.

Tasha: What all goes into making one of your videos?

Tracy: The process begins when I hear a scene that I think would be great to film. Once I know which characters I'm going to film, I either come up with the look for a character that I've never played before or I check back on how I portrayed a character in the past, to make sure the look (wig, costume type, facial hair, if necessary, etc.) is the same, and then I start on the set. Sometimes that can be as simple as moving some stuff out of the way so I can have a clean background, and sometimes it can be as difficult as moving furniture out of my room, taping wallpaper to the portion of the wall that will be filmed, and bringing in new furniture and props. Set design has quickly become one of my favorite parts of production, though sometimes it can be a real challenge to try to make something appear new when really I've filmed in the same spot several times! When I'm ready to film, I set up my cameras, do some checks to make sure I'm in the frames, the lighting is good, and then I usually hit record and see how the first take goes. The first take almost never gets used because it's my chance to test movements and props. Once I've figured out the 'choreography' for a scene, I do the same for every take, so I have to make sure that I really like it. Usually a few takes in I will do something that feels right and the first handful of takes are useless because I've changed something. Making a small change mid-production for a character can suddenly make the character feel more real and natural, and that's a great feeling. After each character's takes are filmed, I pretty well immediately set to work on editing. Editing can take anywhere from one hour to several hours, depending on the type of editing involved. The whole process of setting up for a scene, costuming, filming, and editing usually takes no less than 6 hours. It can be very exhausting, but the finished product almost always makes it worthwhile!

Austin: Do you have a favorite video you have done?

Tracy: It's pretty rare for me to upload a new scene and not think 'this is my best one yet!', so forgive me for following that pattern. Ha ha. The last scene that I filmed was from the episode Amazing Grace and it was a simple looking scene between a young woman and her father. I say simple looking, and not just simple, because I spent a lot of time researching and creating the costumes, moving my room around, and then developing the set. And because of the effort that went into it, I'm so proud of it. Also, the father in the scene was by far the best performance I've given for a male character thus far, in my opinion. The wig, costume, and props helped make the scene so real and when the situation feels right, acting can be incredibly effortless. So when I see that scene, I see all that went into it and I'm extremely pleased with it.

Tasha: What has been the most rewarding thing to happen to you by making these videos?

Tracy: Because of AIE, I was able to get in contact with several writers, producers, and actors from Odyssey and talking to them has been such a pleasure! They are all incredibly kind and encouraging people, and I value every conversation I've had with them. And I would have to say that the most rewarding moment of talking to them was when Katie Leigh invited me into the studio with her and other actors via Skype. I talked to them, watched them as they watched my scenes (seeing their reactions was priceless!), and was even able to sit in during a recording session for an Odyssey episode. It was an experience I'll never forget!

Austin: Could you tell us about the new show you're working on?

Tracy: Absolutely! I am currently in the process of producing (writing, directing, casting, sound and music design, etc.) an original audio show called Witnesses, which gives listeners the chance to hear stories about Jesus from the perspective of individuals who met Him, were healed by Him, or who encountered Christ in a life changing way. Writing the scripts thus far has given me such a beautiful view of my Lord and I truly hope that the effect the show has had on me will be felt by others. To quote myself: "The greatest goal a Christian could hope to achieve is to change how people see their faith in a positive and fresh light; to take old stories and make them new. My mission with this series is inspiration, revelation, and ultimately to present Jesus as an interesting, charismatic, loving, kind, gentle Man who had the greatest purpose of all, yet daily stopped to help the least of these."

And the official synopsis for Witnesses is as follows:

"Witnesses is an audio drama about the experiences of people who had direct contact with Jesus; intimate stories of real people, told in their own words.

It is easy to rush over stories in the Bible, carelessly ignoring the people and events because we know what happens. But imagine how the stories felt to experience when the outcome wasn't clear! What was it like for the shepherds when the angel appeared and they were told to leave their sheep and find the Baby? How did the woman caught in adultery feel when she heard the life changing words "Then neither do I condemn you"? What went through Peter's mind when Jesus told him that Peter would betray Him that very night?

Step into the familiar time period, strap on your sandals, stretch your legs, and head off in search of eye witnesses to the greatest story ever told."

The first episode (you can hear a preview of one of the scenes here) tells the story of a shepherd who was given a glimpse of Heaven the night that Jesus was born, and the character, Phillip, is portrayed by the incredibly talented Phil Lollar, a name and voice many Adventures in Odyssey fans will recognize! It was/is SUCH a pleasure to hear Phil breathe life into the script that I wrote and I'm thrilled to share it with you all soon! I don't have a set date for when the Pilot episode will be available on iTunes, but it will definitely be within the year, Lord willing!

I, unfortunately, have struggled with the necessary costs of creating an audio show, and while God has helped so much along the way, currently I am at a point where I need to make and save some money before I can proceed with it any further. But once the financial aspect of the show is more settled and the first episode is completed, it will, as I mentioned above, be available on iTunes, among other places to buy. I am sure that the Lord can and will do amazing things with my little show and I'm very excited to see what happens!

We want to thank Tracy Lyn Holland for taking the time to answer our questions and also for making wonderful videos for all us Odyssey fans to enjoy! If you feel like you'd like to help Tracy with Witnesses, you can donate on the Witnesses website and help spread the word about the show

Back Cover, Episode Titles, & New Summary for Album 58

Album 58 is almost here! With it being so close to the official full release, we now know pretty much everything about it. First, we have an updated summary that tells us more about what kind of story we'll hear.

Who knew that a comic-book convention, a poster, and a pastoral visit could cause so much drama in Odyssey? Wooton’s got his hands full with a notorious blogger after announcing the creation of a new comic book idea—and he has to deal with a wayward cousin. Whit refuses to join in a local festival and finds himself in a citywide tug-of-war between conviction and compromise. And the unexpected return of various relatives and former adversaries triggers complications for Connie, Eugene, and the rest of the Odyssey gang. It’s the perfect blend of excitement, comedy, and important life-lessons in this special 14-episode collection!

As noted in the summary, we know that this album will not just have 12 episodes, but 14! This is a first for Odyssey. Not only that but all 14 episodes will have the same title from The Ties That Bind, Part 1 to The Ties That Bind, Part 14.

Lastly, we get a look at the back cover of the album.

Looks like we're going to have a great new story arc to enjoy. Are you excited? We sure are!

Remember when Facebook was the social network to be on and how there were a lot of exclusive stuff you could only find there? We do. Our first social network for the AIO Blog was Facebook and we did several exclusive things for the people who liked our page. However, we started other social network sites and made things available for pretty much everyone on Facebook, along with Twitter and Google Plus.

One of those things was exclusive wallpapers. For a long time, that was the only place to get them. Now, as a part of the Wildest Summer Ever, we are re-releasing those wallpapers for everyone to see and use! We made one of the most popular album artworks, Daring Deeds, Sinister Schemes. The second and last one we did.was a special Star Trip wallpaper using the artwork from Back on the Air. We hope you enjoy them!

We had a lot of fun making Do You Want to Have Adventure? earlier this summer. Apparently, so did you guys considering we have over 80 listens on SoundCloud. Well, we thought it would be fun to make a lyrics video for you (and us) to sing along with. Below is the end result.

Happy singing!

AIO Blogcast Radio Dramas Now On SoundCloud

Summer is almost at an end, but we still have more fun to have in the Wildest Summer Ever! You may recall that while we still made the AIO Blogcast, we created 3 different radio dramas for special episodes. We had people like Phil Lollar, Kevin McCreary, and Garrett Vandenberg star on them along with us and some of our friends. We had a lot of fun making them. However, some of the shows were in really long episodes or people weren't sure what they were. You could only hear them by going back and finding them in the archives.

Until now.

All of our productions have been re-released on SoundCloud! They are now standalone features and easier to listen to. If you haven't heard any of these, we think you're in for a real treat...and a whole lot of laughter. If you have heard them already, we're sure you'll enjoy them hearing them again.

And as for if and when we'll make new full length drama? Well, all we can say we have some really exciting ideas. If we start moving forward with them, you'll be the first to know!

Memes. You've seen them all over the Internet: Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, pretty much everywhere. You've probably shared some, you may have liked or favorited some, but have you ever made one? That's what this last part of the Wildest Summer Ever is all about! We want you to create the most cleverest and funniest meme ever...about Odyssey!

What is a meme?
Basically, it's a picture with a caption used to make a funny statement.

How to make one: You can use several websites, such as Quick Meme and Meme Maker, to help you make your own memes. You can also use your favorite photo editor to make one. Just make sure to use the font Impact. You may use a pre-made meme template or make a new one using pictures from AIO.

How to enter: Once you've made a meme, it's time to share it with us. For Facebook users, just post the photo on our Facebook page and use the hashtag #AIOMemeContest on the post. On Twitter, mention us in a tweet using @theAIOblog and the hashtag #AIOMemeContest. Note: Your tweets must be public for us to see your post.

How winners will be chosen: Once we get all the entries, we'll choose our favorite meme and two runners up.

The prizes: First and second place will receive a copy of the Our Favorites album, containing cast-picked episodes. Third place winner will receive a copy of Wooton's Whirled History: A Blend of Bravery, which contains 6 AIO history shows with new wrap arounds with Wooton.

The rules:

You must be a resident of the 48 continental United States to enter and win.

The meme's content must be related to AIO.

The meme that you post must be of your own creation and not someone else's.

You are only allowed to enter one meme.

As per Facebook and Twitter's rules of their users being 13 or older, we can only accept entries posted by people that are of that age. If you are under 13, you may have one of your parents or older siblings to submit your entry for you.

Please choose whether to post your entry on Facebook or Twitter. Do not post it on both.

Your entry should not contain any offensive pictures or vulgar/swear words. Any entry that contains any of these will not be eligible to win.

Due to Google Plus' stipulations on contests, we regret to say that we cannot use Google Plus to get entries. If you are one of our G+ followers, you're more than welcome to use Facebook and Twitter to enter instead.

You have until September 8th 12:00 pm CST to post your entries on our Facebook page or on Twitter. Winners will be chosen and announced soon after. Winners will be contacted after the announcement.

 Have fun and be creative!

Here are some memes that we've made to give you some inspiration:

It's time to announce the winners to our AIO Meme contest! We received some great, funny entries. We wish we could give everyone a prize, but, unfortunately, we cannot. Now, are you ready to see who won?

Coming in at 3rd place, we have Will L's entry. Will cleverly stitched together some pictures of Connie with different emotions to convey one of her most memorable and quirky qualities. Will L. wins a copy of of one of the latest special AIO releases, Wooton's Whirled History: A Blend of Bravery. Congrats, Will!

Will L.

Next up, we have an entry from Elijah Hall. He took the popular meme, Bad Luck Brian, and used it show how Connie doesn't have a great history of dating people. Elijah's meme comes in 2nd place and wins a copy of the Our Favorites album containing the AIO actors' favorite episodes. Well done, Elijah!

Elijah Hall
Who comes in first place? Ryan Matlock! He used the illustration of Connie from Album 57 with Connie's somewhat indiscernible expression to convey one of the most remembered quotes from Tom Riley & Bart Rathbone's debate. It's also timely because the currently airing season of AIO is showing how "toleration" is used nowadays. Ryan also wins a copy of Our Favorites, plus a printed version of his meme signed by us here at the AIO Blog!

Ryan Matlock

Congratulations to all our winners and thanks to all who entered this contest! We hope you had fun!

And so ends the Wildest Summer Ever.

Wrapping Up the Wildest Summer Ever

It's hard to believe summer is already over and fall is here! Where did the time go? Back in May, we announced the Wildest Summer Ever. It was a series of special events spread out over the summer months.

We had fun conducting two different interviews this summer. The first one we did was with big time AIO fan and star of Advenutres in Editing, Tracy Lyn Holland. This was the first time we did an entire interview in a text format. The second was on our YouTube channel, an interview with Odyssey writer, Marshal Younger.

During this time, we also released and re-released some computer wallpapers: and original one using scenes from the Odyssey Adventure Club and once Facebook-exclusive ones.

We had a blast on our SoundCloud page these past months. First, we released Do You Want to Have Adventure?, a parody of Do You Want to Build a Snowman?. We also re-released some content that was originally only on The AIO Blogcast. One was a remix of our theme song we never used to replace our regular theme. Plus, we also uploaded all our past radio dramas: Austin Peachey, PI, Sibling Spies, and Skye Weldon. If you haven't already, make sure to follow us on SoundCloud as we continue to bring new and classic content. We also produced our first lyrics video which we uploaded to YouTube. It was for the Do You Want to Have Adventure? song.

To wrap everything up, we had a contest, the AIO Meme Contest, where our readers could submit their own funny memes related to Odyssey. We picked three winners to win Our Favorites and Wooton's Whirled History.

We had even more things planned for the summer, but unfortunately, we weren't able to do them all. This was because myself, Tasha, and the rest of our family moved from New Mexico to Oklahoma in June. It all happened rather fast and we were really busy preparing for the move and trying to get into our new house. We had very little internet access and were unable to do some of the things we had planned.

However, we are now settled into our new home and have even better internet access than before. We'll do our best to do some of the things we didn't get to do this summer sometime this fall and next year. We hope you all had a blast these past few months and thanks for being a part of The Wildest Summer Ever!

Coming Soon - Sibling Spies 2

$

It's been quite awhile since we released our last radio drama, Skye Weldon & The Crazy Cactus Caperback in early 2013. We've been keeping busy with short features over on our SoundCloud page, but we haven't forgotten how fun our longer features from the AIO Blogcast. That's why we're announcing that we are working on a brand new full length radio drama, a sequel to Sibling Spies!

Sibling Spies 2: Trial by Fire (the tentative title) will see the return of special agents Andy & Christy Fox as they once again set out on a mission for the International Intrigue Investigators. However, this time, it will require them to come to grips with their past and accept the changes happening to their team.

We've had ideas for a sequel for some time, but only recently figured out how the story should unfold. We have the first scene written along with several other lines of dialogue. While we did focus a little more on story than comedy for the last Sibling Spies show, we really wanted to make this one have a really engaging story that brought home some great lessons. Don't worry. There will still be plenty of laughs to be had in this show.

We're very excited about the story and we can't wait to let you all hear it! We're shooting for having the script completely written by the end of this year with the final production coming out sometime in 2015.

Stay tuned for more updates!
